International Yoga Day is a day to acknowledge and celebrate all that yoga has to offer to humanity.
If you have never tried Yoga before it’s a wonderful opportunity to come and sample all the benefits of yoga in all its amazing aspects. If you already practice yoga it’s a perfect opportunity to come out and meet like-minded people, share experiences and maybe try a new area or aspect of yoga you have not experienced to date. Whoever you are and whatever your background we would love you to join us on the 21st of June – the Summer Solstice.
Benefits of Yoga
- improved wellbeing
- better life balance
- access to deep states of happiness
- reduced stress (know anyone who needs this?)
- peace of mind
- and much more…
Who chose this day to be the International yoga day?
On December 11th, 2014 the United Nations adopted a resolution (co-sponsored by more than 170 Member States) to commemorate the International Day of Yoga.
June 21st is not just a random day.
In the northern hemisphere it’s the summer solstice and in the southern hemisphere it’s the winter solstice. This means at the equator the day and night are equal length, or in other words – there is perfect balance. That’s what the world needs today – balance. And the meaning of Yoga is balance. To balance everything in life, make it harmonious, integrated, wholesome. And what a better day to celebrate yoga than the day of perfect balance.
